Money and currencies
Record actual settled amounts, preserve movement meaning and use Cairo dates.
Store and explain money in its actual currency. The same numeric amount in two currencies is not the same financial value.
Movement meaning
| Event | Important distinction |
|---|---|
| Transfer | Money moves between owned accounts; it is not income or spending. |
| Loan receipt | Borrowed money is not salary. |
| Card repayment | It repays debt rather than duplicating the original purchase. |
| Currency exchange | Both actual outgoing and received amounts are required. |
| Recurring plan | An expectation does not itself move money. |
Settled versus original currency
If a bank settles an original foreign charge in an account’s local currency, the account movement uses the settled amount. The original charge and its currency remain separate supporting evidence.
Do not infer a bank execution amount from a later reference quote.
Dates and basis
User-day dates follow Africa/Cairo. A dated balance stated by the user is independent evidence, not a fake opening transaction. It can provide a useful starting answer while earlier history remains incomplete.
For a fictional EGP 2,400 balance as of 4 October 2026, subsequent cleared movement determines the later figure. A different cutoff date can produce a different answer without either number being wrong.
Combined answers
Use dated conversion evidence for a base-currency summary. Unsupported conversion must not silently become one-to-one. Preserve each account’s original currency and any completeness note.
Read exchange evidence and ledger basis.
