Using HelmSubscriptions and recurring plans

Product guide

Follow recurring subscriptions

Keep recurring plans, actual charges and payment sources distinct.

A subscription describes a recurring commitment: what you expect, when it renews and which payment source it uses. An actual charge is a separate recorded movement.

Add a recurring plan

  1. Open Coming and review your subscriptions or manage the recurring setup in Settings.
  2. Name the service and set its amount, currency and recurrence using the available fields.
  3. Associate the appropriate account or card when known.
  4. Review the next expected date.

If you do not know the amount yet, avoid presenting an estimate as a settled charge. A subscription in one currency may settle in another; the bank’s actual charge belongs in Activity.

When a charge happens

This example is fictional: a plan expects USD 8 monthly, but the bank charges an EGP account EGP 405 on 5 October 2026. Keep the recurring USD expectation and the actual EGP movement distinct. Where original-pricing evidence is available, retain the USD amount alongside the EGP settlement.

Review imported or manually recorded activity before adding a second copy of the charge. A subscription reminder is not proof of payment.

Pause or end a plan

Use the plan’s editing controls when the service changes. Ending a future commitment preserves the historical charges. It does not refund previous payments or remove the recorded money.

After changing recurrence or the expected date, check Coming to confirm the future picture matches your intent.

If something appears twice

Determine whether you are looking at a plan and its actual charge, or two recorded movements. The first can be valid; the second needs Activity review and correction. See bills and upcoming dates for reading reminders.
