Read insights with context

Understand financial patterns without overlooking date ranges, missing history or different currencies.

Insights helps you inspect patterns in the money and context you have recorded. A pattern is only as complete as the underlying accounts, dates and evidence.

Read an insight

  1. Open Insights.
  2. Read the question or measure it answers.
  3. Check its date range and currency.
  4. Read any missing-history or conversion note.
  5. Trace an unexpected result back to the underlying accounts or movements.

Do not compare two periods that contain different amounts of recorded history as if they were equally complete.

Understand what the context means

A category describes spending, a person identifies who was involved, a matter groups a purpose and tags add independent labels. A movement can have several of these without counting the same money several times.

For a fictional example, EGP 150 for groceries on 5 October 2026 can belong to a grocery category and a Weekend trip matter. Those are two views of the same EGP 150 purchase, not EGP 300 of total spending.

Income and transfers

A transfer between your own accounts is not salary. A recurring income plan is not a received payment. If an income pattern looks incomplete, check actual receipts and their source links before changing expected amounts.

Likewise, a credit-card repayment should not duplicate the original purchase as fresh spending.

When a result cannot be computed

An unavailable answer is not zero. If a combined result lacks exchange evidence, read the accounts in their original currencies. If the history is incomplete, add the missing real evidence or narrow your interpretation to what is known.

Correct an incorrect movement through Activity. Use My Situation for the current starting picture and account history for a specific discrepancy.
