Track a rotating savings group
Follow your own contributions and receipt in a gameyya without treating the whole group as your money.
A gameyya is a rotating savings arrangement: members contribute on a schedule and one member receives the pot each round. Helm tracks your arrangement, contributions and receipt with their dates and currencies.
Set up the arrangement
Use the gameyya controls under People or its setup in Settings. Name the group, supply the schedule and your position using the available fields, and review the expected contribution and receipt dates.
Keep estimates distinct from confirmed dates. Creating the arrangement describes what you expect; it does not record a contribution or receipt.
Record your actual contribution
- Confirm the contribution actually happened.
- Record the movement from the account that paid.
- Link the relevant gameyya context where offered.
- Review the date, currency and account history.
For a fictional example, your contribution is EGP 700 on 5 October 2026 from Everyday account. Track your EGP 700, not all members’ combined deposits as if they were your bank balance.
Record your receipt
When your turn arrives, record the amount actually received in the receiving account and link the arrangement. A scheduled turn is an expectation; it is not a completed receipt before the money arrives.
If the amount or date changes, retain the actual movement and update the future plan separately. Do not invent a receipt to make the schedule look complete.
Review a mismatch
Compare your own contribution movements and receipt with the arrangement’s dates. If a bank import already recorded the movement, review and link it rather than creating a duplicate. See recording and correcting movements for changes to actual money and planning for context that does not itself move it.
