Financial vocabulary
A practical glossary for accounts, movements, plans, evidence and shared financial context.
These words describe different real-world responsibilities. Keeping them distinct prevents a recurring plan, physical card or shared purpose from being counted as another pile of money.
Money and evidence
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Account | Where money or a financial balance is held, including a bank or credit-card account. |
| Card | A physical or virtual payment instrument linked to an account, not another balance. |
| Movement | An actual expense, receipt, transfer, repayment or currency exchange. |
| Stated balance | A balance you explicitly report for an account on a date. |
| Bank-document evidence | A statement or supported bank record that supplies independent financial evidence. |
| Base currency | A reading currency for combined answers when conversion evidence is available. |
| Credit limit | A borrowing limit, not your own cash. |
Plans and context
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Obligation | A planned cost or receipt with a due date or schedule. |
| Income source | The salary, client or other source associated with actual income receipts. |
| Person | Someone involved in lending, borrowing or shared costs. |
| Matter / identity | A persistent real-world purpose, such as a project or purchase. |
| Category | What a movement was for. |
| Tag | An additional independent label. |
| Gameyya | A rotating savings arrangement; your contributions and receipt are actual movements, while its schedule is context. |
Put the vocabulary to work
In a fictional EGP 150 grocery purchase on 5 October 2026, the account says where the money came from, the category says what it bought, and a Weekend trip matter says which shared purpose it belonged to. These labels describe one purchase rather than several payments.
Read recording movements or plans and matters for the corresponding tasks.
